With the economy now entering a recession and overall unemployment rate skyrocketing up to an all time high of 14.70% in April, it’s inevitable that the trucking industry would take a hit. In May, the Department of Labor (DOL) reported that trucking employment totaled 1,431,600, which is the lowest total employment number since November 2014. Although some form of relief came in the form of the Paycheck Protection Program, stimulus package, small business loans, and our #PayItForward program, it was simply a bandaid to a much larger problem – truck drivers rely on consistent employment to sustain their livelihood.
Yet, there’s good news ahead.
With an onramp of states beginning to reopen, the potential for more jobs in trucking is beginning to rear its head. We put together a comprehensive list of top carriers currently hiring for those who are seeking employment.
